Even during its fifth weekend in theaters this past weekend, Moana 2 managed to make it in the top 5 at the domestic box office, passing newer releases including A Complete Unknown and Babygirl.
At the same time, Disney boasted a second film in the top 5 this weekend, with Mufasa: The Lion King. A follow-up to the 2019 live-action Lion King remake, Mufasa tells the story of the titular king of the Pride Lands while interweaving tales of Simba and Nala raising their daughter. The movie tacked on another $37.1 million at the domestic box office this weekend, putting it just behind Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the no. 2 slot. Now, a project in the universe of another Disney 2024 hit is doing well on streaming.

Dream Productions has become a huge success on Disney+. Dream Productions is a TV miniseries spinoff of Inside Out. Set in the same universe as Inside Out and its hit sequel from earlier this year, Dream Productions follows the story of a director who teams up with a daydream director to create a tween-dream hit for Riley. Dream Productions‘ leading voice cast includes Paula Pell, Richard Ayoade, Kensington Tallman, Maya Rudolph, Ally Maki, Ace Gibson, Amy Poehler, and Lewis Black. The series has four episodes.
