Jumanji 4 Gets An Encouraging Update From Kevin Hart

Jumanji 4 has gotten a promising update from franchise star Kevin Hart, who indicates he is considering returning for the next film. Jumanji‘s sequels are best known for involving a group of friends being transported into the bodies of video game characters within the eponymous in-universe video game. The previous film in the fantasy comedy franchise, Jumanji: The Next Level, saw Hart play Mouse, a zoologist playable avatar controlled by both newcomer Milo (Danny Glover) and football player Fridge Johnson (Ser’Darius Blaine).

Speaking with Variety during the Oscars red carpet event, Hart confirmed that ideas are in the works for Jumanji 4.

He indicated that he had spoken to his co-star, Dwayne Johnson, about what another Jumanji sequel could entail. Check out what Hart had to say below:

We’re going to have to do it soon. I talked to [Dwayne Johnson] the day before yesterday. Right now, we got the ball rolling on some big ideas.

What To Expect In Jumanji 4

With Hart planning to return for Jumanji 4, it’s likely that the film will continue the tradition of the franchises’ sequels where the real-world main characters take control of avatars within the game world. While it’s unclear what adventure Mouse, Smolder, Shelly, and Ruby will partake in next, it sounds as though it will continue to involve the video game instead of reverting to the original Jumanji board game. It’s likely that, moving forward, the Jumanji video game will continue to be the central magical object of the franchise.

However, there’s a strong possibility that Jumanji 4 won’t take place in the game world despite featuring Hart and Johnson’s game characters. A post-credits scene for Jumanji: The Next Level features a heater repairman discovering the video game in Spencer’s basement. After playing the game, a swarm of ostriches can be seen running down the street. This implies that Jumanji 4 may pull more from the original film, featuring animals and people from the game world now interacting with reality.

If Jumanji: The Next Level‘s post-credits scene is canon, then Jumanji 4 could feature the game characters interacting directly with the real-world college students. If that’s the case, then Hart and Johnson may put on different personalities than they’ve had in the previous films in the franchise, as the avatars of Mouse and Smolder would no longer be controlled by the students. Hart’s comment indicates there are now ideas floating around for the next film, and if the post-credits scene for Jumanji: The Next Level is anything to go by, then Jumanji 4 could be the franchise’s biggest movie yet.
